5 Indisputably Perfect Movies

Thursday is the 40th anniversary of the release of "The Empire Strikes Back".

What a film. Yeah, it's one of the movies you call a "film" because it's so damn good.

So with that being said, it got me thinking about what other movies I consider to be perfect. In no order, here they are:

Empire Strikes Back (Obviously)

  • The action, the introduction of new characters, the twist at the end hits the trifecta of making a movie perfect. Plus, the way it plays off the movie it's following is an absolute thing of beauty and something that we see so many sequels fail to do.

Goodfellas

  • The storytelling and narration from Ray Liotta just sucks me in every single time. It's soundtrack and the movie go hand-in-hand, and as much as I love "The Godfather" movies it doesn't get as bogged down and slow like that trilogy does for me. The big three of Liotta, Pesci, and DeNiro is undeniable and is even better than the KG, Allen, Pierce and LeBron, Bosh, and Wade "Big 3".

Shawshank Redemption

  • I'm a sucker for narration. No one better to tell this story, or any story really, than the man Morgan Freeman. Another twist that every time I watch I say to myself "how the hell did Andy pull that off" no matter how many times I've already seen it.

Good Will Hunting

  • This has legitimately the best life advice I've ever heard and I've referred to it on multiple occasions for some big decisions. The scene about "regret" is all-time stuff. If you're ever on the fence about doing or not doing anything at all just watch this scene.

Choose wisely of when to watch it, though. If you pull this up before going out to the bars for a night, you could find yourself striking out a lot based off of this false movie courage, but nonetheless, it can be super beneficial.

Space Jam

  • A little bit of a wild card here, but I don't think I'm wrong. Kids and adults can both love it the same. It has something for everyone. The soundtrack is obviously phenomenal and it introduced some of the coolest Jordan's and gear we've ever had that is still worn to this day. Mix the most legendary basketball player of all time with the most legendary Saturday morning cartoon characters of all time? What an idea.

Honorable Mentions:

  • Moneyball
  • The Social Network
  • The Godfather II
  • The Breakfast Club
  • 40-Year-Old Virgin
