After Tonight’s Wild Ending It’s Time To Wonder If Chase Elliott Is Cursed

Brad Keselowski found himself in the winning circle tonight, but boy was he not the story of the night.

With just two laps to go and a certain victory, Chase Elliott’s Hendrick teammate William Byron spun out of control and caused a caution. This was not to the delight of Elliott’s team:

They decided to pit before the restart, which placed Elliott 11th in the restart. Ultimately he ended up finishing 3rd.

He was NOT happy with the decision to pit:

Neither were Chase Elliott bettors:

After the race, Elliott was greeted by Kyle Busch, who ended his chance at victory on Wednesday night.

No middle finger was given after this interaction.

Why did Elliott pit? I guess thought process is that if he stayed out it’s likely that everyone one behind him pits and then he would have to hold off everybody else with new tires for the remaining 2 laps. Incredibly questionable decision making by Elliott’s crew chief Alan Gustafson.
