Run The Jewels Just Released Their Fourth Studio Album Early Because Tomorrow Is Not Guaranteed
The album, much like the previous three, is free for download on their website. Not like, "oh you have a streaming service here ya go." No, free free. You can get it here. While the album is free, RTJ has given fans an option to donate to the National Lawyers Guild Mass Defense Fund in lieu of traditional payment. From their website, the MDC does the following.
If you choose to add a donation at checkout, donations will go to the National Lawyers Guild Mass Defense Fund.
The Mass Defense Committee (MDC) is a network of lawyers, legal workers and law students providing legal support for political activists, protesters and movements for social change.
MDC members in chapters across the country provide trainings, assistance in setting up temporary legal offices and legal support structures, and materials for supporting activists engaged in mass protests.
Mass Defense Support
The National Lawyers Guild can provide the following legal help to progressive organizations:
- “Know your rights” trainings/workshops;
- Meetings with, and advice to, organizers about protest actions, and legal consequences;
- Legal Observers at protests and other actions;
- Help with setting up and running jail and bail support programs;
- Legal representation in case of protest arrests.
Agree with the MDC or not, this is their effort. And with no perfect solution readily available, any effort towards progress is commendable. RTJ, since their inception, has used their platform to address injustice head on. I'm halfway through my first listen and I can attest that this is the traditional, lyrical laden violence we've come to expect from El-P and Killer Mike. Give it a listen, or don't - it's still a free country at last check - but if you're angry enough to bench press a few buildings right now this is probably the food your soul is hungry for.
