Kanye Is Running for President Under the 'Birthday Party' Because 'When We Win, It's Everybody's Birthday'

After announcing on July 4 he was going to run for president, Kanye West sat down for an interview with Forbes. And let me tell you, he did not disappoint. It was challenging to even decide which quote from this interview should be the headline for this blog because there were so many that are just too good.

I have no idea how serious Kanye is about running for president — and I don't really care. Just get him on the debate stage. i will do whatever my part entails to make that happen.

But Yeezy says he's serious. In the Forbes interview, he says he already has his running mate and has branded himself under the new birthday Party.

Forbes — An hour into the interview, the hedging was done: He says he definitely plans to run in 2020, versus his original plan in 2024. The campaign slogan: “YES!” His running mate? Michelle Tidball, an obscure preacher from Wyoming. And why the Birthday Party? “Because when we win, it’s everybody’s birthday.”

Campaign slogans ending in exclamation points haven't panned out too well in the recent past, but I think that could be offset by the promise of every day being your birthday. You just walk around with a little extra pep in your step on your birthday and now we have that as a political ideology. I'm in.

West also gave quotes on just about any issue you could imagine a presidential candidate would be asked about, and at one point he answered a question by breaking into a freestyle rap.

“Well, God has already started the healing/This conversation alone is healing and revealing/We all need to start praying and kneeling… another bar after that, but when a rhyme comes together I’m going to complete it, not inside the lines created by organizations that we know as our reality.

That's a swagger you won't see from any other candidate for a long time. Do I actually want the United States to be run by Kanye West? Maybe not. But do I want to see him really make a run at this thing? More than anything in the world.
