The Fast & Furious Franchise Is (Maybe) Going To Space

Now I do not want to step on Feits' toes here by blogging about this franchise many know is near and dear to his heart, so I want you all to know permission was properly granted before this was written. I do not need all of you yelling at me like when I did dog pic Friday and you all said I was biting off of Carl. I believe this series is probably the greatest movie series ever and it is incredibly near and dear to my heart.

In an interview, after the person interviewing Ludacris made a joke about Fast & Furious in Space being a potential future title, Luda said ""I will say that you are very intuitive, cause you said something right, but I'm not going to give it away."

!!!

The Fast & Furious franchise has gone completely off the goddamn rails over the last handful of movies and, frankly, I have enjoyed every second of it. A few notable examples.

- A seeming complete lack of quality control.

- Driving a car through multiple skyscrapers

- This fucking headbutt

While it may seem like I am complaining, to be completely honest these things have not taken any joy away from me when it comes to this series. If anything, it has enhanced the experience. They have survived a main character's real-life death, they have added in random A-list actors, the list goes on and on. I think the beauty is that things just get exponentially more unbelievable and just when I think they won't be able to top the previous lunacy, they drag me right back in. Enter: space.

That is where space comes into play. When you backpedal for a second and think about the progression of the crew (family), going to space is the next logical step.

The Fast and the Furious: Stealing DVD players and street racing.

2 Fast 2 Furious: Working with the police to take down a bad guy and street racing.

The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift: Big time deviation here, but Bow Wow was involved. Still street racing!

Fast & Furious: Upgraded to taking down a drug kingpin while simultaneously avenging the death of a main character. Bold move basically naming the movie the same thing as the first one, but we'll look the other way since they gave us Gal Gadot. No street racing.

Fast Five: They are now plotting to steal $100 million dollars while being on the run from Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. Also dropped the furious from the name for some reason. No street racing.

Fast & Furious 6: They are furious again! The crew (family) has now somehow morphed into the number one terrorist capturing organization in the world? They are working with the government to capture another rival crew to secure their own freedom. Also, that death they were avenging earlier? Still alive and working for the rival crew. They take down a plane. No street racing.

Furious 7: No longer fast but still quite furious it seems. The brother of that earlier bad guy is now in play. They're not working for anyone really at this point? But they are still furious and moreso on the defense now. No street racing.

The Fate of the Furious: Fate implies this may be the end, but it was certainly not. Main character heel turns. I had a bit of a hard time following this one, but it is still abundantly clear that they are elite special force individuals. Also torpedos. No street racing.

Hobbs & Shaw: The Rock and Idris Elba. Offshoot movie. An absolute banger, but doesn't really have much to do with the series.

When you take all of these factors into play, I believe space is the only place to go from here. I mean, where else? They've conquered the air (plane takedown), they've done water/ice (torpedos), they were also barreling through caves at one point (earth?). It is time for space. I need space. Let's do it.
