It Appears The Mexican Cartel Has It's Own Paramilitary Unit Now
When I went to my timeline tonight, I wasn't expecting much. It's Twitter, but Saturday night? Quarantine? What was going to be happening in the world? Oh, just a viral video of a cartel's paramilitary unit. Nothing to see there.
As noted in the tweet, this is the CJNG cartel. They've been active since 2009, focusing on trafficking cocaine and methamphetamine. They are worth around $50 billion and ran by drug lord El Mencho. In the video you can hear the members of the cartel shouting "only El Mencho's people."
This video was posted by them as the president of Mexico is set to visit their territory.
SOURCE-A video depicting a sprawling military-style convoy of one of Mexico’s most powerful drug cartels circulated on social networks on Friday just as President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador visited the group’s heartland.
In the two-minute clip, members of the fearsome Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) stand in fatigues alongside a seemingly endless procession of armored vehicles.
“Only Mencho’s people,” members of the cartel shout, pumping their fists and flashing their long guns. The cry was a salute to their leader, Nemesio “El Mencho” Oseguera, one of the country’s most-wanted drug lords.
This is all about power, which is shocking, I know.
Stay safe out there.
