How Much Money Would You Pay For Twitter?

Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey, on a call with investors, said that "You will likely see some tests this year" regarding a Twitter paid subscription model and that he has "a really high bar for when we would ask consumers to pay for aspects of Twitter." He also noted that Twitter is in the "very, very early phases of exploring," so it does not seem that anything is on the direct horizon.

This does raise the question, however, of what would you pay to access Twitter as it currently exists? $5 a month? $10? $20? $50? $100 plus? Where exactly would it fall in your personal hierarchical structure among other monthly entertainment-based bills like streaming services, traditional cable, Spotify/AppleMusic, porn/only fans (no horny shaming here) and newspaper/magazines?

Personally, I value Twitter above all else and believe I would pay accordingly. $20 absolutely ZERO question, $50 I wouldn't be thrilled about but would certainly still be paying, $100...honestly Twitter has me on the fucking hook and the number I would go up to is gross, at least depending on whether or not other people were paying and still making the website what it is today. That is if they decide to go the direction of a base fee for the entire website.

I'm particularly intrigued by what exactly @Jack meant when he said there would be "a really high bar" on content he would ask people to pay for. Would Twitter be getting more into the original content game? Premium accounts? Right now, I'm not sure there is a specific section of Twitter that fits the mold of this "high bar," so they would definitely have to be creative to get people to shell out money. When you decide to take features users already had access to and then make them pay, a ton of people revolt and just leave the platform (RE newspapers and paywalls) and super often premium features that get added aren't great and didn't exist for that reason in the first place (except Barstool Gold obviously).

It will be interesting to see how this progresses, especially since witter has a history of seemingly making absolutely all the wrong moves at any given time, so fingers crossed they don't botch the living hell out of this and leave many of us without one of our top forms of entertainment.
