At What Point Does Tobias Harris Offer The Sixers A Refund?
Massive contracts in sports are a tricky thing. Because if someone comes up to you and says that they're going to pay you $180 million, you say yes every single time. In no world would I ever fault Tobias Harris for signing a sheet of paper that says that he's going to receive generational wealth to play a game. You unequivocally blame management for absolute dog shit contracts over the player every single time. So make no mistake about it, Elton Brand sucks at his job just as much as Tobias does.
But at some point I feel like the Lemon Law has to apply here. Or at the very least we can look into the Magnuson Moss Warranty Act. You sign Tobias Harris to a max contract and this is the production you get out of him in the playoffs?
That's a Lemon. Elton Brand bought a lemon. And sure, maybe Brett Brown actually totaled a perfectly fine vehicle because he was asleep at the wheel and then he just turned it into a lemon. But we don't need to tell the insurance company that. If the Sixers could commit to the Process for that many years, I'm sure they could commit to some insurance fraud here real quick to get out of it.
All I'm saying is that Tobias Harris and Al Horford are the absolute worst use of $289 million that anybody could ever come up with. And the Sixers should be trying every last legal route they can find to get some of that money back because they're going to need it once everyone stops buying tickets to watch this dog shit team again and they go back to the $8 tickets of the Process days.
Sidenote: I'd be more pissed off at Al Horford, too, if I wasn't just trying to pretend like he doesn't even exist. Even typing out his name makes me feel sick.
