Who Drafted The Best Roster of Movies That Start With "A"?

On today's episode of LCB, reviewed 'Tenet', talked news, had an interview with David Zucker (writer/director of 'Airplane', 'The Naked Gun' and more) and debuted a brand new draft criteria using the alphabet.

But what good is drafting without seeing what the adoring public thinks of the team? And since Steven Cheah can't give us a professional grading, here is my impartial ruling:

CLICK THE MOVIE TITLE TO SEE OUR RATINGS, AS WELL AS WHERE TO STREAM/RENT THEM

Trill's Team (AliensAladdinAkiraAmadeusAmerican Psycho): Trill took the consensus #1 off the board as expected, but also got one of the best Disney animated movies and overall animated movies in his next two picks. 'Amadeus' was a bit of a vanity choice, but I think he god good value out of 'American Psycho' in the 5th round.

Draft Grade: B+

My Team (ArgoArrivalAmerican History XAnnihilationApocalypto): I took 'Argo' with the express intent of cucking Jeff and getting him to trade me something later, since it's one of his favorite movies. It didn't work out that way, but I definitely don't hate having the Oscar winner on my team. 'Arrival' is an underappreciated gem, but I think I could have gotten it in the later rounds in retrospect. My next three picks, however, I think I got great value out of. 'American History X' is as good as they come, and Annihilation is one of the better Sci-Fi movies to come out in the last decade. 'Apocalypto' is one of my favorite movies, so I don't care if the analysts don't care it.

Draft Grade: B

Jeff's Team (AlienAirplaneAll the President's MenAvengers: EndgameA Fistful of Dollars): I think Jeff's draft might the best from a certain point of view. He has 4 movies that are arguably the best in their respective genre, and the highest grossing movie of all time. Hard to argue against that, but it's also a very conventional team. He drafted the tall QB that looked good in shorts, the skill player with the flashy combine results, etc. It was a risk-averse draft, but that might be why it was the best!

Draft Grade: A-

The Audience Team (Apocalypse NowAvengers: Infinity WarA Star is BornAnchormanAmerican Pie): Their first round pick is in most people's top-10 or top-25 movies of all time, so they got a steal in that sense. Getting Infinity War, which most people agree is the better of the two between that and Endgame, was also a very solid second round pick. I'm a huge fan of A Star is Born and I'm pissed that I didn't think of putting it in my draft pool, so kudos for them for the right call there.  Anchorman and American Pie are 2 of the more influential comedies of the 2000's, so solid value there too.

Draft Grade: B+
