Happy 20th To The Best Football Movie Of All Time: Remember The Titans
20 years ago today Remember The Titans hit theaters, and I have no problem with saying this is the best football movie ever made.
I know 'Rudy' is inspiring. I get 'Friday Night Lights' is raw and entertaining. I understand that 'The Replacements' is funny.
Remember The TItans is all of the above and then some.
I mean no one could play the role of Herman Boone other than Denzel Washington. He is that character.
So many memorable quotes. So many dynamite football scenes too especially for a Disney movie.
No kid who wanted to play football or did play football hasn't watched the Coach Yoast "Remember the night they played the Titans" scene on loop before.
They fucked those dudes up. "YOU BLITZ. ALL. NIGHT."
And how about when Sunshine makes his debut and tells Louis to "let him through".
I probably tried that scene in my backyard at least 1,000 times not realizing that it probably didn't really happen but they put it in the movie for dramatic effect. Got my ass.
Then possibly the saddest scene in a football movie…when Julius visits Gary in the hospital after his car accident. Fuuuuuck.
That'll get you no matter who you are.
The soundtrack. The history. It's all so damn good, man. Can't believe it's been 20 years. This was one of the first "holy shit" I vividly remember something from 20 years ago moment.
"I don't scratch my head unless it itches, and I don't dance unless I hear some music."
