Jerry Jones Is Doing The Right Thing By Believing In His Record-Setting Defense

My hat off to Jurrrry Jones. I respect a man with conviction like ol' Jare. Because after all, records are hard to set, especially when you've been around as long as his beloved Dallas Cowboys. So when your team sets a record, you reward that coach:

Dallas News - Until Sunday afternoon, no team had ever rushed for more yards against the Cowboys than Philadelphia did in the ill-fated “pickle juice” 2000 season opener when Duce Staley piled up 201 of the Eagles' 306 rushing yards. Helped by a game-clinching 50-yard end-around by Odell Beckham Jr. — his third of three touchdowns — the Browns slammed the Cowboys for 307 yards on 40 rushes.

“When you give up 300 yards rushing, that’s just poor,” coach Mike McCarthy said. “That’s poor run defense, no way around it. What I don’t like is the pattern of the four games. The points are outrageous, the time of possession is lopsided and we’re a minus-7 [in takeaways].”

A team that’s allowing 36.5 points per game is now sure to be ranked last against the run while giving up 172.5 yards and 4.9 per carry.

A new record! Congrats to all involved in this year's Dallas Cowboys. They really went out and hired Mike McCarthy to lead this team, the same Mike McCarthy who wasted the prime of Aaron Rodgers' career. And now it looks like he's poised to do it again in Dallas with Dak. He has a team with Dak, Amari Cooper, and Zeke and have the same record as our Washington Football Team.

But not to worry you precious Cowboys fans, Jerry has full faith in Mike Nolan. To be fair, his track record speaks for itself. The last time he was a D-cord, his teams put up some pretty great numbers:

In the 2013 season, they've finished as the 27th team in both points (27.7) and yards (379.4) allowed per game, and the 26th in Football Outsiders' DVOA. In the 2014 season, Atlanta have finished as the 27th team in points allowed per game (26.1), 32th in yards allowed per game (398.2) and 31th in Football Outsiders' DVOA.

Beautiful.

I gotta say, there is nothing better than watching this Cowboys team not be able to get out of their own way. Dak is playing out of his mind, he has the weapons, and the defense is absolutely putrid. And lowkey something very funny is the Trevon Diggs ballwashing because he forced that DK Metcalf fumble. Everyone is ignoring he got completely burned on that play, could barely cover anyone at Alabama, and is getting toasted nonstop in the league.

At least now they don't have to decide if they want to pay Dak $500 million…oh wait what's that? They do? Oh boy. I wonder how Jerry is going to fuck this one up. Can't wait to find out.
