Thank God, I Can Finally Get On With My Life

Source - Pope Francis has called for legislation to protect same-sex couples, according to comments he made in a new documentary that mark a break from Catholic doctrine.

"Homosexuals have a right to be a part of the family. They are children of God and have a right to a family," the pope said in an interview in the documentary Francesco, which premiered Wednesday at the Rome Film Festival. "What we have to create is a civil union law. That way they are legally covered."

Francis noted he has stood up for civil unions before, but his remarks in the documentary go beyond what he has said previously and sharply diverge from the view of his predecessors.

Just what I needed before I went to bed- a half-assed endorsement of gay civil unions (not marriages) from an 83-year-old virgin. Is he a virgin? I don't know. I just don't think we should be giving this much credit to a guy whose current claim to fame is expressing what was considered a groundbreaking opinion thirty years ago. Civil Unions haven't even been talked about since I Now Pronounce You Chuck And Larry. Maybe this is just one of those things we have to humor, like when your grandparent makes an off color remark at the local Chinese restaurant. "Great job, Pope! You're really with the times. Now hand me your Jitterbug phone so I can load you up with some minutes."

The number of news outlets covering this story throughout the day was insane. Here's a small sampling...

And on and on it goes...The funny thing is not one of them mentioned it wasn't that big of a deal. Everyone sucked Pope's papel-piece like he was the second coming of Christ. Then again, maybe he is and if that's the case I'm definitely going to hell. Although I probably already am for reasons I don't care to disclose in this blog.

Shout out to Kyle who helps with the Out & About social for making this meme..

I guess the only questions left is…How far will Pope go? Will he endorse gay cocaine-fueled orgies within the Vatican walls?…

Now that'd be progressive. Only time will tell. Have a great night everyone!
