Chase Rice's New Song Is A Jam

Little back story on this song. Ten years ago Chase Rice was a struggling musician (singer/songwriter) that had just wrapped up an appearance on "Survivor". That was following graduating from UNC Chapel Hill where he played linebacker. (Preceding Caleb Pressley by a few years) So he's in Nashville trying to make the music thing work and doing what all artists that are trying to make it in that town do; play gigs for free and pass the hat at bars up and down Broadway, and slum it with other artists in the same position as roommates. Turns out Chase ended up rooming with Brian Kelley and Tyler Hubbard from Florida Georgia Line.

The three of them wrote "Cruise" together which everybody knows ended up becoming one of the biggest songs (in any genre) in 2012 and 2013.

It also jump-started FGL's career.

Fast forward 8 years later and Florida Georgia Line is somewhat repaying the favor to Chase collaborating once again on his new single, "Drinkin' Beer, Talkin' God. Amen." A country song title if there ever was one.

For some reason Florida Georgia Line catches a lot of hell from country music purists, so I'm sure those people will light this song on fire in the comment section.

I used to be one of those guys but I learned life is a hell of a lot easier if you just worry about liking the music you like, and letting other people like what they like, rather than trying to tell them why their taste sucks.

Florida Georgia Line is obviously incredibly successful. So they're doing something right. If they weren't any good you'd have never heard of them and they'd still be passing the hat at Tootsies.

Chase is talented as all hell. He's been successful on the football field, as a NASCAR pitman, in the tv game, and made it in the hardest industry in the world right now first as a songwriter, and then as a singer.

In regards to "Drinkin' Beer, Talkin' God. Amen", Rice remarked-

“It’s special to me and it’s special to them because it’s been 10 years in the works, 10 years since we worked together. We didn’t write this one together, but we sang it together, and it’s the first real collaboration since ‘Cruise.’”

“I love the title,” Rice explains. “Corey really wanted to write a porch song that day, that’s what he kept saying. So, I finally said okay and I looked through my phone and saw ‘Drinkin’ Beer. Talkin’ God. Amen.’ And I said, how about that, it looks like a porch song to me. Little did I know it was going to be a 2020 anthem for what’s gone on in my year and what’s probably gone on in a lot of other people’s year.”

So knock it if you want, but this song is going to be played for a long time to come. 2021 is going to be a huge year for Chase Rice.
