The TV shows I put on when I need a break
Better Call Saul, because of its great characters and examination of the dark side of the American dream. The Good Place — it’s a wise and sweet combination of goofy comedy and big philosophical questions. And Watchmen and The Boys, for how they turn superhero conventions on their heads to lay bare issues of race, capitalism, and the distorting effects of corporate power and mass media. Oh, and the NBA playoffs — because it’s hoops!
I'm going to be honest here, when I was reading the TV shows President Barry O watched that helped him write his memoir, I did not expect The Boys to pop up. Presidents, they're just like us! We both love watching the homicidal lunatic in Homelander laser a crowd to death to make sure he gets what he wants and keep his status as a God (this scene needs to happen in non-dream form in S3).
Or seeing Homelander opting to not save a crashing plane out of fear the media would depict them as failures if anyone died. Easily one of the more fucked scenes in recent TV history.
Or you know, Mother's Milk being attacked by a long penis. Normal stuff.
Just know when we were watching these scenes at home, so was President Barrack Obama as he took a mental break from writing his memoir. That's incredible. No show will make you want to say the word 'cunt' more than The Boys. I haven't read the memoir because I can't read, but I wonder if he slipped one in there without realizing. Imagine the editor going through the first draft and seeing it littered everywhere. The Billy Butcher effect my friends.
I love seeing Antony Starr's reaction on Instagram. This man needs to be in more things. Can he be a future Marvel villain please?
Best TV show out there right now. Feed me Season 3 this instant.
