NOBODY Gives Away Money Better Than Jeff Bezos' Ex-Wife. Mackenzie Scott Has Donated Nearly $6 BILLION To Charity This Year Alone
MacKenzie Scott has announced that she has given away $4.1billion in the past four months to hundreds of organizations as part of a giving pledge she announced last year.
The philanthropist, author and ex-wife of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos announced her pandemic-era philanthropy in a Medium post on Tuesday.
She described the coronavirus pandemic as 'a wrecking ball in the lives of Americans already struggling,' and noted is has been worse for women, people of color and those living in poverty.
'Meanwhile,' she wrote, 'it has substantially increased the wealth of billionaires.'
One of those billionaires is Scott herself, the 18th richest person in the world who has seen her net worth surge this year by some $23.6billion, according to
The QUEEN of Quarantine. Breaker of bread. The Donation Divorcee. The head bitch of benefaction. Mackenzie Scott can't give away her money fast enough. The tweet and the text paragraph above are actually from two different sources. One source says it was $4.1B that she donated. Another said it was $4.2B. Another cited that she had previously given away $1.68B. Now you might say "hey Chief, what's the big deal? What's the difference between $4.2B and $4.1B?". Well...for starters...its ONE HUNDRED MILLION DOLLARS. When sources are off by an entire Dave Portnoy networth on how much she gave away that is a pretty big deal in my book.
Here is the thing though... I bet she doesn't even know how much money she gave away. Probably just verified that the charities were real and then got carpel tunnel from writing million dollar checks to 438 different organizations. Insanely generous of her. This woman is the 18th richest person in the world and I don't think I've ever heard her speak. She is becoming a household name simply for giving away insane amounts of money to those in need. She's Robin Hood except she didn't steal from the rich. She got it in fair and square in divorce court.
Credit to her. I'd like to think that I'd be generous like that, but in reality I'd probably just buy the most expensive Rocky Mountain ranch I could find and then turn my brain off to the world and periodically check the amazon stock and laugh and drink more champagne. Specifically this ranch
So I guess it's good that Bezos divorced her and not me.
