Wake Up With Auditions for ‘The Office’
One of the truly under-appreciated elements that made “The Office” one of the great sitcoms of all time was how perfectly cast it was. A point that’s driven home when you see some of the biggest names in comedy today trying out for roles. Seth Rogen, Eric Stonestreet, Kathryn Hahn, Judah Friedlander, Patton Oswalt. All are really great at what they do, but not nearly as good as the one who got the part. You can almost see Bob Odenkirk as Michael Scott. But he had to go up against Steve Carrell, who was perfection.
And according to both John Krasinski and Jenna Fischer, they were asked to audition together as Jim and Pam, and knew right away they had to each get the part because it wouldn’t work as well with anyone else.
Watching this you realize that being a struggling actor trying to break into the business looks like a miserable existence.
