Hello,

Sutter Station Tavern has been in business in San Francisco in the same location since 1969. I have been an owner of this business since January, 2000. I then took full ownership in January, 2018 after my longtime business partner, friend, and the original owner passed away. We are a woman owned business and we have been a part of San Francisco and serving our community for years. During this time we have gained an excellent reputation and faithful customers. My employees are excellent and extremely loyal to this business, we are a family. We pride ourselves on the customer service we provide along with the friendly and welcome atmosphere we give to each and every person who comes through our doors. Our faithful customers are a testament to this and it definitely shows.

In September of 2019 I remodeled the bar. After six weeks of being closed for these renovations the business had just begun to turn around and my revenue numbers were finally turning for the better. This was only to be halted in March of 2020 when the COVID-19 pandemic shut us down. Our doors had been closed without one sale until November, 2020 when we were then given the opportunity to open at a limited capacity while partnering with a nearby food restaurant to operate. This was again halted one month later in December after the most recent spike in COVID-19 cases which resulted in the City of San Francisco closing all bar businesses once again. In Q2 and Q3 of 2020 I recorded $0.00 in sales, in Q4 of 2020 I recorded only a small fraction of my previous year Q4 sales due to the limited opening in November. During this entire closure I am doing the best I can to remain optimistic and positive, I have done my best to help my employees and keep my business afloat. However, this is becoming harder and harder each day without being able to open my doors for business and bring in revenue, as well as serve our community.

Sutter Station Tavern is a staple of San Francisco and I believe should continue to operate and serve our community for many more years to come. It would be a terrible shame if I am not able to sustain my business until we turn the curve of this horrible pandemic and begin to operate our business once again. If granted funds from Barstool, I will take care of my employees the best I can and I will continue to provide for a more safe and comfortable business. Along with that I would like to also use some of the funds for my monthly rent to try and keep my business afloat and remain in the very location that we have called home for almost five decades and continue our legacy. Any funding you can provide will help us and be greatly appreciated.

I appreciate what you are doing and I appreciate your time and consideration.

Sincerely,

Barbara Alessi
