Tom Holland Reveals That He Blew The Audition To Play Finn In The Latest 'Star Wars' Trilogy

Tom Holland has been making tons of press rounds this week, between promoting the new Russo Brothers directed movie 'Cherry' and hyping the new 'Spider-Man', and this tidbit about him auditioning for the role of 'Finn' in the Star Wars sequel trilogy (and blowing it) seemed to appear across a lotta headlines in the past few days....

IGN- "I remember my audition for Star Wars," Holland told Backstage when asked about audition horror stories he had. "I was like four or five auditions in, and I think I was auditioning for John Boyega's role [Finn]. I remember doing this scene with this lady, bless her, and she was just a drone. So I was doing all of this, like, 'We gotta get back to the ship!' and she was going, 'Bleep, bloop bloop, bleep bloop."

Holland said he couldn't stop laughing because of how funny he found it. He also felt really bad because it was clear the person was trying really hard to be a convincing android or drone.

"I obviously didn't get the part," he continued. "That wasn't my best moment."

I'm not sure if this was the first time Tom Holland publicly revealed that he was up for the part of 'Finn' - eventually played by John Boyega - but it was certainly the first time I'd heard the news myself, and it surprised the hell outta me! It's super weird to think about for a sequel trilogy fan like myself, as well, who's become SOOO accustomed to Boyega in that role. I just can't picture Tom as good ol' FN-2187!

I know how a lot of the internet feels about those movies, though, so I won't revisit those old wounds too much.

Tom's probably much happier being a part of the MCU in hindsight.

This blown audition woulda taken place yeears before Holland hit the big screen as Spider-Man in 'Captain America: Civil War', so I'm not sure if he was even cast for that at this point, but it kinda just proves that he was destined for success no matter what. Kid lost out on Star Wars because he couldn't stop laughing at the "beep boops" in the audition process and stumbled right into the next couple Avengers flicks. Not bad!

Plus, laughing uncontrollably at the lady making BB-8 noises in the script reading is SUCH a Peter Parker move. Only makes him MORE perfect for that role in my eyes.

If 'Cherry' hits like I think it will, and reveals that much more serious side of Tom Holland (expanding on what we saw outta him in 'The Devil All The Time'), I believe he's gonna blow up and become one of the most famous actors of our generation....like, even more-so than he already is.

He's already at the forefront of an 'Uncharted' franchise kicking off this time next year, as well, so it ain't like he's slowing down any time soon, and I just think the sky is the limit for him.
