Joel Embiid Is A God And We Are All Mere Mortals In His Presence
The divine status of Joel Embiid was the main topic of conversation Rone and I had on this week's First Time, Long Time -- Barstool's very unsanctioned and totally not approved Philly Sports podcast. And is it that far out of the realm to think we are simply mere mortals in God Jojo's presence? Probably, but still. Anyone with even a limited amount of basketball knowledge and/or a functioning mammal brain who watched Sixers vs. Jazz last night has to think he's the MVP front runner.
Peep these figures from last night:
40 PTS
19 REBS
3 ASTS
2 STLS
14/27 FG
10/13 FT
Oh, and this to send it to OT.
ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED!?!?!?! Add on the fact it was all done against the #1 team in the NBA and vs. Rudy Gobert who everyone and their mother refer to as one of the most dominant defensive players in the league. The man is an absolute menace.
And get this - JoJo's 40 and 19 effort means that's the 5th time this season he's put up at least 40 points and 10 boards in the game. So for those keeping track at home/in reality:
EMBIID 40/10 GAMES: 5
REST OF THE NBA: 4
Incredible. MVPiid, indeed.
And let's not forget the OT effort from Tobias Harris and another steller performance from Ben Simmons which resulted in Donovan Mitchell going 12-34(!!!) from the floor. #THISLEAGUE
CUE IT!
