Kmarko's DraftKings Picks - July 31st
Welcome back to the daily DraftKings picks where we try to get super rich playing daily fantasy baseball. As usual I’ll do a brief recap of my lineups from the night before then throw out some picks that I’m brainstorming for tonight, and hopefully get some good feedback/tips/picks from you guys either in the comment section or on Twitter @kmarkobarstool.
Had a solid night last night –
(I print out all those trophies and hang them up on my wall – just kidding. Or am I?)
Looking for more tonight. Huge Friday night slate so let’s jump right into it…
Pitcher Notes:
-Clayton Kershaw is the obvious top dog tonight, and will be pretty much any night he takes the mound for the rest of the season. Have fun with that $14.5K salary though.
-Personally I like Mad Bum as a big favorite squaring off against a team that doesn’t hit lefties very well.
-You know the drill with Salazar by now – huugggeeee upside, really scary downside. A’s have been real bad lately though so this could be the place to take your shot.
-Can Hammel regain what he had earlier in the season against a bad Brewers squad, or continue his 2nd half slide? Stay tuned tonight to find out!
-High risk high reward value considerations – Rodon, Walker, Rodriguez
HITTERS
BIG MONEY BAT 1B/3B Todd Frazier $5K
Haven’t nailed down Frazier as a pick yet…he hits 2 home runs a night when I don’t pick him, goes 1-4 with a single when I do. But I think tonight’s the night to break my slump. Got the night off yesterday so he should be fresh and ready to mash.
2B Kolten Wong $4.1K
Here’s a hot expert tip on Kyle Kendrick – he’s not good at pitching. And while I don’t like targeting Cardinals bats that much, I love the spot Wong is in tonight. Kendrick gets hit HARD and I expect Kolten to put some good wood on the ball and hopefully put a home run on the board. At borderline value play territory, the price is too good to pass up for the matchup.
VALUE PLAYS
SS Jung Ho Kang $3.9K
Pure gut pick tonight, and regular readers of this column will know why – because as you can see from my lineup last night, I went with him confident he’d be a great GPP contrarian play to Tulo, and he promptly put up 0 points. That means there is a 95% chance he hits a home run tonight. It’s the Kmarko gift and curse.
OF Preston Tucker $3.6K
Rubby de La Rosa stinks against lefty bats, Preston Tucker hits massive home runs against pitchers who stink against lefty bats. I’m not a mathematician but that equation sounds really sweet for my bank account tonight.
Unofficial hunch plays: N. Cruz, B.Belt, G.Polanco, N.Walker
…
That’s it for me…hit me up @kmarkobarstool and have a good weekend
