The NBA Trade Deadline Passes With The Knicks Only Making A Minor Deal Shipping Out Austin Rivers + Ignas Brazdeikis And That's Okay
Alright, so a pretty lowkey trade deadline for the Knicks, which considering some of the other transactions in franchise history, isn't the worst thing in the world. We didn't trade for Lonzo Ball but we also didn't trade for Andre Drummond, so I'm counting that as a net positive for the day. Same goes for not trading Mitch or Elf. It's not quite turning the 25th pick of the draft into Immanuel Quickley, but it'll definitely do.
Some quick thoughts from a pretty boring deadline:
- First and foremost, a sincere thank you to Austin Rivers for annihilating the Jazz that one time
For entering the doghouse because #BallIsLife
And for teaching me that not all Duke basketball players are assholes, just ones not named Austin or RJ (Which to be fair are two pretty hatable names in a vacuum, especially for guys that went to a place like Duke). #OnceAKnickAlwaysAKnick
- The most painful part of this entire deadline was actually that we lost sweet Iggy to Philadelphia of all places.
I'm not sure what I did to the Basketball Gods to make me fall in love with another player with Baltic roots only to lose him a few years later, but here we are. I am convinced that there is always room for someone named Iggy on a championship team, I just hope that championship team isn't the 76ers. #OnceAKnickAlwaysAKnick
- Speaking of Euros, our beautiful French baby boy Frank survived yet another deadline and now has a friend to keep him company and tell secrets in French with.
UPDATE: Au revoir, Vincois! #UneFoisUnKnickToujoursUnKnick
- I'm not sure how much longer Terrance Ferguson will be on the Knicks, but I do know he can do this:
So it looks like Obi has someone to have dunk contests with in practice and garbage time, which is how you unleash an athlete of his stature.
- I can't believe the Knicks were linked to Lonzo Ball for months and I never saw the name Lavar come across the timeline once. The internet truly has gone in the toilet.
The biggest takeaway from today is that we didn't mortgage the future at all to help the roster of a today compete in the muddled middle of the Eastern Conference, which I think every Knicks fan is more than okay with. Now let's go beat the bag out of the Wiz again tonight, make the playoffs in May, and let Worldwide Wes commit slight to moderate tampering in the offseason to land us a star better than anybody that was moved today to build around RJ, Julius, and Quick.

While we are slinging shirts, I just saw that dirty rotten scoundrel Joey Langone released a new garment for our beloved Rowan Jr. One purchase = One invite to the RJ Barrett Hype Group.
