Bill Walton Wants Heads To Roll At The NCAA Because 'It's Unacceptable' For Pac-12 Teams To Play Each Other Before The Final Four
[Source] - “This should be a Final Four matchup, and, the way those two teams are playing, they would be matching up in the Final Four,” he said. “That is a disservice to the conference, a disservice to basketball and a disservice to everybody involved. It’s an unacceptable turn of events. I want that fixed for the future.
“I just think it’s people not doing their job. When I don’t do my job or you don’t do your job, we get fired. When something like this happens, who’s responsible? Who’s accountable? We ask our athletes to be responsible. Yet, the people who are responsible for this … the faceless, the nameless, the anonymous.”
You will never love anything more than Bill Walton loves the Pac-12. That's a stone cold guarantee. It's impossible. You may think you love your kid or your spouse or your family more. Nope. Bill Walton and the Pac-12 is the best relationship in the world. The man picked 5 teams to make a Final Four. Don't worry about math, he believed it could happen and you know what? He looks smarter than the rest of us right now since the Pac-12 has 4 teams in the Sweet 16.
But this is where Walton is pissed. He HATES that USC and Oregon are playing each other in the Sweet 16. I get it. You don't want conference teams to play each other, but it's also impossible to avoid if more than 4 teams make it. They could have avoided this a bit by moving Oregon over to the 7 seed in Baylor's region. But at the same time you think Oregon is complaining? Nope. It's also not the first time we've seen conference teams play each other. So Walton does make some sense here. Speaking of which, the craziest part of this Shaq clip is listening to a calm Walton call the game.
And just when I don't think I could love Walton more he has this quote:
Then, Walton added, “I’m clamoring for better refereeing, too.”
Thank you! There's nothing more I hate in college basketball than refs. Duke, Louisville, Carolina, etc. I still think I hate refs more. I hate how excited they get to call a charge. I hate how inconsistent they are. I hate it all. At least Walton is correct there and it feels to be on the same side as the big guy. I also need to know more about this.
I can't wait to listen to Walton on TV this weekend. Him and Chuck chopping it up about the Pac-12 is going to be damn near must watch.
