Bob Baffert's Heel Turn Continues To Be Amazing - Now Admits Medina Spirit Was Treated With A Banned Substance
I don't ever Bob Baffert to stop talking. What a couple of days we've had with him starting with the positive drug test Sunday morning to blaming cancel culture and implying that a groom had pissed on the hay after drinking cough syrup. Follow all that up with today basically saying yeah he was treated with a banned substance but we have no idea how. Basically pulled a Chip/Chappelle right in front of us
I just can't get over the fact that Medina Spirit wasn't a victim of cancel culture. When I think cancel culture, I immediately think of a horse that just won the Kentucky Derby. That's exactly how it starts. First that, then if he wins the Preakness the pitchforks and blue checkmark brigade are out of in full force! What I do think is more and more hilarious is Baffert's original press conference where he says he's not the problem:
I don't know, Bob. You're a multiple-time offender with this sort of thing. It's not exactly a secret in the horse racing world, even if you're not the only trainer to cheat. Baffert is legit the face of the sport. He's the one guy that you can close your eyes and picture with the hair, the glasses, even the name.
Oh and don't worry, Baffert says Medina Spirit still would have won the race, case closed.
I just love how Baffert is coming full circle here with the excuse wheel. It started with the conspiracy theory talk, denying it all. Then we had him blaming cancel culture and the hay story - both on the bingo board. Hitting the classics. Now we have him admitting it happened but don't worry he's going to investigate himself like it's a college basketball program. He's even saying he's not sure if that's what caused the positive test! Uhh, dude, just google it. Pretty clear it's tied together, everyone knows the Internet doesn't lie.
Baffert is now the villain in horse racing and WhiteSoxDave's life. I've talked about it before, but horse racing doesn't really have characters. We're watching animals run. We now have a true villain that even the most casual fan will know about. Shit, he's refusing to go to the Preakness this weekend to avoid being a distraction. I still hope he shows up. Need him to show up with Medina Spirit as of now still running in it. Here's the thing, it's even going to be split. There will be people cheering for chaos and wanting Medina Spirit to win the Triple Crown. There's the majority that will be cheering against Baffert. Horse racing has a villain.
Now we wait until tomorrow to see the latest excuse from Baffert.
