After Eighteen Years On Air Ellen DeGeneres Is Officially Ending Her Talk Show Due To A "Lack Of Challenge"

Source - Daytime’s most recognizable face has decided her upcoming season, the show’s nineteenth, will be the last. The decision, which fell to DeGeneres, is said to have been several years in the making. She informed her staff May 11, and will sit down with longtime pal and daytime predecessor Oprah Winfrey to discuss the news on Ellen‘s May 13 show.

“When you’re a creative person, you constantly need to be challenged – and as great as this show is, and as fun as it is, it’s just not a challenge anymore,” DeGeneres tells The Hollywood Reporter, discussing the move publicly for the first time.

Not a challenge anymore or you got caught brutalizing your employees and never recovered? Which one is it because I'm pretty sure it's the latter. Regardless, ratings have been shit ever since news of her being a monster broke last year, so it was only a matter of time until she took herself off the air despite the fact that NBC wanted her to stay on. I did a quick search on the blog to see what we've written about Ellen in the past and here's what came up...

And that's just from us…The woman has been rightfully dragged by every media outlet on the planet for the past year, which is why it makes sense that she's stepping down. She's too rich and too successful to have to deal with the criticism. Not only that, she has nothing left to prove. What's she going to do, stick around just to show that she can still do it? Fuck that. Ellen's about to shut her phone off, ride into the sunset, and call it a day. Good for her.

That said, I do 100% belive that the show was not a challenge anymore. Being a talk show host is never a challenge- all you do is read off a teleprompter. Oh well. Good luck to the queen of mean. Consider this one a win for the good guys.
