A Bunch Of Big Time Players Announced Today They Are Coming Back To College Basketball And, Yeah, This Season Is Going To Be Fucking Awesome
Have a day, college basketball. I'm not even saying that lightly. So many people complain and whine about players leaving early to try and make money at the pro level. Well today alone we have 4 big time players deciding to come back to college basketball. That's just today, that's not counting guys like Davion Mintz, Armando Bacot, Colin Castleton DeVante Jones and Julian Champagine, all announced they are coming back recently too.
This is where NIL truly does help. All these guys could have made money at the next level whether it's in Europe, 2-way deals or rookie contracts. They all had a chance. Now they can make money and try to improve draft stock. Win-win for all involved. We're talking All-conference players and All-Americans coming back to college. I'm not even lying when I say this has the *potential* to be one of the best seasons in college basketball in quite some time. From a competitive standpoint, to loaded rosters and names that everyone knows. Give me all of it.
Here's the other thing. The sport isn't done. Kofi and Shackleford both are transferring with Kofi potentially coming back to Illinois. We're talking about arguably the best big guy in the game returning to college and potentially changing teams. We're seeing one of the best scorers in the country going through the process now too.
I love the sport, it's not exactly a secret. It's why I'm here and something I spend way too much of my life caring about. One of the biggest problems with the sport is how little it tends to stay in the news except for people complaining about it or investigations by the FBI. This year we're getting guys taking advantage of the free year from past season and getting an All-American like Collin Gillespie back. We're getting blue bloods back after a down year. We're getting new bloods with Texas and Chris Beard building a fucking loaded roster. Hell just take a look at Barstool Sportsbook:
There's so much value with teams in the top-10 here. Purdue at 13/1? They are a top-5 team in the country for me and have one of the best guards in Jaden Ivey. This doesn't even include UCLA at 15/1 and we saw what they did last year. This doesn't include Houston at 18/1 who is one of the most consistent programs now. This doesn't include Arkansas at 20/1 who is yet again bringing in massive transfers to go with JD Notae. From a gambling standpoint it's awesome, from a fan standpoint it's even better. Last year was weird with the no offseason, limited practices and games. We deserve this sort of season after that.
Get me to this season now.
