Seth Meyers Plays The Game "True Detective Or Fortune Cookie?"
I honestly struggled with this game a little bit. Thats how ridiculous Nic Pizzolatto’s writing has been. Everything sounds like a goddam fortune cookie. Everything sounds like an overly dramatic line from a foreign soap opera.
This week’s episode was good. Vince Vaughn finally shut the fuck up and just went badass. Obviously the big news at the end. Cannot BELIEVE that fans have grown so indifferent to this show that the ending of last week’s episode isnt even spoiler material. Like Feitelberg told me he didnt watch it and was probably gonna watch today or tomorrow and the fact that he is able to do that without being spoiled by the internet and twitter is bananas. That ending should have been Jon Snow-esque. Should have been the talk of the internet the next day, I dont think I saw one thing about it.
Not that that’s what defines a good show. There are plenty of incredible shows nobody talks about. Some of the best shows get bad ratings. Sometimes even get canceled. But the fact that True Detective went from like a wildly popular, most talked about TV show, to a moment like that going by with nobody really caring or reacting speaks volumes.
It was definitely a good episode. Certainly by comparison to the first 6. I dont think it sets up some major finale thats gonna save the season, primarily because nobody knows or cares about who the bad guys really are, but it was entertaining for sure. Sad ending, but nowhere near as sad as it should have been if the show hadnt been so rushed, forced and scattered.
