Congrats To Alex Palou For Coming Outta Nowhere To Win The 2021 IndyCar Title

Unreal. Second year kid outta Spain comes through and takes over IndyCar in 2021. Congrats to Alex Palou, the Gorilla. 

I sat in turn one of the Indy 500 this past May and watched this relatively unknown kid who was basically a rookie battle it out all the way down to the last lap with 4x Indy 500 champ Helio Castroneves and was blown away. This kid was as consistent as you can get behind a wheel this year. New tracks, tracks he's only been to once, didn't matter. He was always a good bet to be near the top this season, and it paid off with him taking home the Astor Cup.

Consistent, consistent, consistent. That two month run from Indy all the way through fourth of July weekend at Mid-Ohio of nothing bud podiums is unreal. 9 top 5's. 3 wins. And props to Chip Ganassi Racing. Absolute hoss this year. Three of the top six in the standings to end the year came from Chip. 

A phenomenal year from Palou and Ganassi Racing comes to a close with the 2021 season wrapping today in Long Beach. The Spaniard is only 24, already has an IndyCar title and a second place at the Indy 500 under his belt. Also, I cannot go without saying a big congrats to Colton Herta and his pops Bryan for an outstanding finish to the year. Back-to-back checkered flags after some shitty luck at the midway point of the season. They won St. Pete in the 2nd race of the season and have all sorts of momentum heading into next Spring. He's just 21. Watch out, IndyCar. Alex Palou and Colton Herta have arrived. Can't wait for 2022.
