Joe Rogan Perfectly Sums Up What's Wrong With The Dave Chappelle Trans Controversy

Most of the time writing about stuff like this isn't worth it. It's much easier to post a #TwerkTuesday and watch that pageviews roll in than it is to give an actual opinion on a so called "hot button" issue. That said, I feel like I have to weigh in here because the coverage surrounding Dave Chappelle's special has been so preposterous that the reality of the situation has been clouded. The L's the G's the B's and especially the T's have been vocal about their displeasure and I'm here to say the opposite, that the whole thing has been blown out of proportion by a very unfunny, very emotional, vocal minority. A group of people who are trying to cancel the world's most famous comedian for...making jokes. Jokes that were made with the intent of making people laugh, not inciting violence against a group of marginalized people like you often hear. It really is as simple as that.

This excerpt from the Rogan interview stood out to me...

"These ideas that you can't 'make fun of' are dangerous. They're not good for anybody. They're not good for the people who hold those ideas, whether it's about who you are or what you do, the idea that no fun can be had about any of this is crazy. Because then the idea is that all fun is done maliciously and out of hate...and we know that that is just not true."

In other words, lighten the fuck up. Comedians have a right to try and be funny. No one is or should be off limits. Now, whether or not you think they are funny is up to you, but "canceling" them because you disagree with what they say is childish. Almost as childish as barging into a board meeting to tell the CEO of Netflix you were offended by a comedy special. The whole thing is insane and we spoke about it on this week's Out & About. We also gave Jetski poppers, but that's a story for another day...

We live in a strange world, friends. Hopefully Netflix continues to be on the right side of history by allowing comedians do comedy, despite the backlash they may receive. Thanks for reading.
