PSA: Don't Propose To Your Girlfriend In The Middle Of A Soccer Match RIGHT As The Opposing Team Is Scoring A Goal
Now listen, I'm not going to make fun of this lovely couple for getting engaged at a soccer match. Sure I'm anti-proposing at a sporting event, but who knows, maybe the Dyanmo is how they met. Maybe they are just the biggest Dynamo fans in the world and her dream was always to be proposed in the middle of a match. The point is you need to pick your spots a bit better. We know soccer has limited scoring chances, so you can't do it in the middle of action. Just wait until halftime.
According to the box score this happened right after halftime. In the 47th minute to be exact. Why the delay? You have plenty of time during halftime to propose. I say this as someone who is 1-for-1 on proposals. As a guy you blackout for those few moments. You just want to get the ring out of your pocket, you are like 99% sure she's saying yes but you have that 1% no in your brain. You just blabber some words you don't remember saying while on one knee and wait for the yes. You want to get it over with as soon as possible. The worst thing I did was have the ring in my pocket for an hour car drive. Had to stop to pee during the drive like I was a 5-year old. The point is the process doesn't take long. You're looking at a minute or so tops. That's why you can't risk it during live action of a soccer match.
I guess we can just chalk this up to fall though. People fall in love during fall. You have pumpkin patches and all that good stuff. You have the move to hot coffee instead of iced coffee. Everyone dresses a little bit better in the fall too. You can slap on vests, sweaters and jackets. So it's hard to blame these lovebirds getting engaged during the finest MLS match out there.
At least they're getting a sick present out of it.
