Sergio Aguero's KRÜ Esports Shock The World And Eliminate The Sentinels From The Valorant Champions: Berlin Tournament

Krü Esports has shocked the world and eliminated the Sentinels (my favorite team, RIP) from the Valorant Champions: Berlin Tournament. This tournament is the Super Bowl for Valorant. Teams spend the entire year qualifying to earn points and their placement into this LAN tournament. A LAN tournament is when all players are playing on one "local area network" aka the tournament is not online - it's in person and internet connection doesn't matter or impact performance.

The Sentinels were by far and away one of the favorites to win the entire tournament and take home their share of the $1 MILLION prize pool. However, due to a loss to Cloud 9 (yes the same Cloud 9 organization from Halo Infinite) and ultimately their final loss to Kru Esports, the Sentinels have been eliminated from the tournament without even making it into the playoffs.

Another way to look at this tournament is like the World Cup - each year you expect certain teams to make it through group stage and into the next stage of the tournament. Well in this Valorant tournament, the Sentinels are like France, you just expect them to make a run and potentially win the whole damn thing. Maybe even a better comparison would be to Portugal as both teams are facing extreme difficulty. Portugal has Ronaldo, aka the best player in the world - while the Sentinels has TenZ (pronounced Tens) who is regarded as the best player in the world. We don't have to get into the difficulties of Portugal and the World Cup right now, but it ain't looking pretty.

My favorite part about LAN tournaments, regardless of the game, is that you get matchups that you would never see otherwise. Kru Esports is based in Argentina (and owned by Sergio Aguero) and due to the internet issues, these two teams would never be able to matchup online evenly. One team would always have the better connection, thus the major advantage.

For now, the playoff stage is set and these are the 8 teams that have made it through the next phase of the Championship tournament.
