The Steelers And Big Ben Are Somehow, Someway Heading Back To The Playoffs
What a game. What a way to end an absolutely up and down rollercoaster of a head scratcher season. Down and out plenty of times. Plenty of doubts. And somehow, someway this team is going to earn a wild card berth on the final week of the regular season (unless for some reason the Chargers and Raiders tie tonight).
Gutsy.
As they say in the football world that was as gutsy a performance you'll see from a group of guys. On the road against your arch rival. Down most of the game. Down in the 4th quarter. Then you rely on your retiring 18 year vet of a QB to lead you down the field with major contributions from Chase Claypool, Muth, Najee, and Ray Ray McCloud. Faced a 3rd & 9 and converted. Faced a 4th & 8 that would have set the Ravens up for a game winning field goal only about 15 yards away. Converted. TJ Watt ties Michael Strahan's sack record and probably should have broken it if not for a bad ruling by the Baltimore chart folks. He also recorded a tackle for loss and a pass defended. If he doesn't win DPOY then stop the award. Don't care what any of the PFF nerds say. And of course, like mentioned earlier, Big Ben doing what he's done against the Ravens so many times for one final time. It was a perfect Big Ben game. It was a perfect Steelers win.
Major tip of the cap to Coach T. A lot of people would probably unfairly say I've called for his head as the coach. I don't think I have. I think I've been consistent with saying people in the organization just need to be held more accountable and that starts with the head coach. That's true for any team. But damn, what a job these last couple weeks and this season as a whole. He somehow rallied his dudes to keep going and be one of the teams in the tournament.
That's what it's all about. Getting in the dance. Yeah, they're likely going to Kansas City next weekend. And on paper that sucks, but just get into the dance and let it fly. That's what we'll be doing next weekend, and I can't friggin' wait.
Here We Go Steelers.
