Wake Up With The Tedeschi Trucks Band
This happens to all of us every so often: we find a song we like and we love it so much that we gotta listen to it on repeat. For me personally, that song is currently "Back Where I Started" by the Derek Trucks band with Susan Tedeschi on the mic. Take a listen...you can listen to the studio version above or a little acoustic version below:
These two are so fucking good. If you don't know them, do these two things:
1. move out from under the rock you're living under and
2. Listen to them immediately
Derek cut his teeth in the music world from the jump as Butch Trucks, a founding member of the Allman Brothers Band, was his uncle and Derek himself played guitar in the band for about a decade in the early 2000s. Southern rock music is genetically encoded in his DNA. Susan Tedeschi, his wife, has pipes of god and crushes the guitar herself. Together these two make perfect music. Randomly enough, the Tedeschi Trucks Band will be at the Chicago Theatre on 1/21. If you have the chance to see them live on their current tour, do it. By all accounts they're fucking outstanding live. When I saw they were in town soon I couldn't have scooped tickets faster.
There ain't shit to do outside. It's colder than a witch's tit right now and it's still pitch black come 5pm. Do yourself a favor and pop a few 3chi gummies and throw on some Tedeschi Trucks today.
You won't regret it. We'll be talking about this more on this week's episode of On The Guest List… as well.
