The Tonga Volcano Was The Equivalent Of 600 Hiroshima Bombs And I Am Addicted To Watching Videos Of The Explosion From Space

I don't know why, but this Tonga explosion has my entire brain. I've probably watched videos on it every day since it happened and that was before I knew that it was the equivalent of 600 atomic bombs. That is a WILD fucking fact. One of those things that I don't really truly understand even in the slightest, but sounds so fucking big and bad. You could hear it all the way in ALASKA. If Sarah Palin said that nobody would believe it, but uberfacts...

What does 600 Hiroshima bombs look like? Glad you asked, please scroll through

Absolutely insane. Makes you realize how fragile everything is. Some random and unpredictable explosion on the other side of the world could cause massive ramifications everywhere. Butterfly effect stuff. There was a volcano that exploded in 1815 in Indonesia that literally changed the course of history. The Tambora eruption through so much debris into the atmosphere that went all around the world that it killed summer. Literally killed summer. Temperatures in New York were below freezing nearly every day in May. In June the American Northeast saw 20 inch snow storms. There was still lake and river ice in August that year. Farmers saw MASSIVE crop failure which led to famine and death. It also led to a TON of people moving west to find better farmland and more temperate climates. Indiana and Illinois saw such population booms because of this that they were both made states by 1818. A lot historians also claim that the extremely wet and cold summer in Europe directly led to Napoleon losing the Battle of Waterloo which is probably a good thing. It also caused such food shortages that so many horses were starved/slaughtered for meat that a German guy invented the bicycle because there was a need for horseless transportation. Bikes are also a good thing.

But yeah…Volcanoes and Earth in general…very scary. One of those things can blow at any time. No way to stop or control it and then BAM…we are fucked. No summer. No other places to settle. Can you imagine what a famine would look like in America? No thanks. Glad I learned how to hunt and kill deer (as a team) this year with Sydnie Wells.
