'Jesus, Guns, Babies' Has Entered the Running for the Greatest Slogan in the History of American Politics
Folks, allow me to introduce you to 2022 Georgia gubernatorial candidate Kandiss Taylor. She's running as a Republican primary challenger to incumbent Brian Kemp, which generally doesn't give you a great chance of becoming the nominee. But I can promise you no Georgia candidate has ever had a slogan even close to what Taylor is rolling out.
Jesus, Guns, Babies.
I can't believe this isn't a Cam Brady line from The Campaign, but this is undeniably far more of an attention grabber than anything else in politics right now. And as things go in Georgia, those three poll pretty highly, so just throw them all together. I do think you have to go with a different order, though.
Jesus certainly has to be No. 1, but I would have gone with babies in the two slot. Putting guns between those two makes it not a very far leap to somehow infer that Jesus is going to use the guns on the babies. Switch Nos. 2 and 3 and at worst, Jesus and the babies are teaming up with the guns. Arguably still not ideal, but far preferable to the other option.
Whatever your thoughts are about this slogan, it's nothing if not memorable. It's trending on Twitter. And sure, the libs are going to have a field day with it, but they weren't voting for you anyway, so who cares? You can't buy this kind of advertising.
If there aren't already "Jesus, Guns, Babies" t-shirts and hats on Taylor's website, her campaign has missed a huge opportunity.
