The Philadelphia Flyers Are Addicted To Getting Their Asses Kicked, Now On Pace For Their Third 10-Game Losing Streak Of The Season

Heading into the 2021-22 Philadelphia Flyers season I just had this sense that something magical was going to occur. I could feel it in my heart, in my brain, and in my balls. Just from a purely vibes standpoint, it seemed as if the Flyers were ready to finally make that turn. Getting the band back together with Yandle and Hayes. Making another huge (though small in stature) addition to the blueline by making the trade for Ryan Ellis. Adding Cam Atkinson to the mix. A bounceback year for Carter Hart. Everything was lined up for something historic to take place.

Turns out it was that the Flyers would go on to become the most historically dog shit team to ever grace a sheet of ice. I mean holy fuck, boys. Nobody has ever been better at losing than the 2021-22 Philadelphia Flyers men's professional ice hockey team. Earlier in the year they became the fastest team in NHL history to reach two separate losing streaks of 10 or more games, accomplishing that feat in just 40 games.

As you can see, there have been other teams throughout the history of the league who have also sucked a ridiculous amount of ass. Other teams who have lost 10 or more straight on two separate occasions during a season. None of those teams, however, went on to string together a 3rd losing streak of double digit games. But after dropping their 6th straight game last night, the Philadelphia Flyers look primed to do what has never been done before.

We're almost 2 months through the 2022 calendar year already. In that time the Flyers have had one overtime win against the Kings on January 29th, and they followed that up with a regulation win against the Jets on February 1st. It was their first regulation win since December 10th. After that they've dropped 6 straight. So here's the upcoming road to history.

Caps on Saturday. That's a loss. McDavid and the Oilers are going to put up 7 goals against the Flyers, so that's a loss. The Wild are a wagon and they foisted Chuck Fletcher onto us, that's a loss. And then how poetic would it be for the Chicago Blackhawks to deliver the final dagger to cap off another 10-game losing streak? The same Chicago Blackhawks that ruined our hopes and dreams in 2010. I know Chicago sucks almost equally as hard as the Flyers this year but a game against Patrick Kane in Philly? We can only hope it goes to overtime so he can deliver another one of these bad boys.

I just feel so terrible for Claude Giroux. Had the past 2 seasons not been shortened due to Covid, he would have already played his 1000th career NHL game. He wouldn't have any reason to still be in Philly right now to have to endure this. Instead, he has 9 more games to go that he'd most likely want to still be wearing a Flyers sweater. Once he hits that 1000 game mark, he'll hopefully be on the first flight out of Philly to a contender destination. But until then he still has 9 more games to go. Poor bastard. Everybody else on this team and in this organization deserves this. But not Claude.

Anyway, at least that piece of shit Gritty is having fun.
