The Mariners Make Another Splash Trading For Jesse Winker And Eugenio Suarez While The Reds Continue To Blow The Whole Damn Thing Up

Look at the fucking Mariners playing ball all of a sudden. That's not one, not two, but three All-Stars acquired this offseason with Adam Frazier coming over before the lockout.

Seems like there's a formula out there to get your shitty teams to start going for it with moves. Just have a ton of bad shit leak out about the front office, have the president resign, and boom the organization is kinda forced to start trying.

Now how do we dig this shit up on Hal Steinbrenner?

No really, I like what the Mariners are doing here. We may very well be seeing a changing of the guard in the AL West. Houston is still good for sure, but are they great? If Correa doesn't come back that lineup is clearly going to take a hit. The A's are tearing it all down, they're done competing for years. Texas just reloaded in massive way, but their pitching isn't there and the Angels…well they're the Angels. Seems to me the West is truly up for grabs and Seattle is trying to take advantage. Winker had a career year in 2021 and is under team control on the cheap for two seasons. He may have an issue with stay healthy, but when on the field he's a beast. 30 year old Eugenio Suarez is being dumped here along with the entirety of  the $33 million left on his deal. Since 2020 his production has fallen off a cliff with back to seasons posting an OPS under .800 and an abysmal batting average to go with it. Not sure if his offensive explosion was the product of juiced balls, but it kinda looks that way. Either way, the Mariners are going for it and I'm happy for their fans. It's time they break the playoff drought.

These are tough times if you're a Reds fan. Just two years removed from the playoffs they have now cut Wade Miley to save $10mill, traded Sonny Gray, let Castellanos walk, traded Tucker Barnhart, and now are trading Winker just to shed Suarez's money. Brutal brutal brutal. Gotta think Luis Castillo and Joey Votto are fully on the table in trade talks too, right? If you're going this far, might as well clean the whole house.
