Drake Went Hunting For The 1986 Fleer Michael Jordan Rookie And Found One In The Very First Pack He Opened
Drake has been super into the card game lately, few weeks back we saw him with over $200K in NBA Flawless looking for the triple logo man, and last night he hopped on an IG Live with Ken Goldin of Goldin Auctions to try and find the 1986 Fleer Michael Jordan rookie card. It's an insanely popular MJ card, it's THE rookie card you want of his. The prices on a PSA Gem Mint 10 are all over the place, one sold for $50,000, one sold for $96,000, we saw one go for $200,000 in 2020, 2021 had two sell for more than $700,000 each. It's a monster card and Drake wants one. So naturally he teamed up with Goldin and of course he ripped one in the FIRST pack that he opened. What are the chances of that?
It's hard not to be a little suspicious. The biggest card collector and company in the world collaborating with the biggest musical performer in the world looking for the biggest basketball name in the world and they just happen to crack open a 35 year old box and find the exact card they're looking for in the first pack? Hmmm. It's still awesome nonetheless, I'm sure the card will get graded and come back as a 10 and Drake will pocket that cash once they sell it. I'm just a little wary of it. Of course I love seeing Drake come into the hobby, he's bringing a ton of eyeballs and interest to the already growing hobby, it's also good for the other people who are trying to sell their MJ rookies because those prices are going to shoot up. The box alone is worth around $250K, but instead of keeping it sealed he wanted to roll the dice and see if the MJ was in there, luckily he didn't have to wait that long to find out.
You also have to love how excited Drake got, he really is just like all of us when we pull a big card or the card they want. Look at this face. Guy looks happy as hell.
