THE GUARDIANS SPENT MONEY! Jose Ramirez Has Signed Cleveland's First Ever $100 Million Contract

WE SPEND MONEY IN CLEVELAND!!!

For the first time in my entire life, I want to say thank you to Paul Dolan for opening up his checkbook. Our first ever $100 million deal, more than doubling the previous high of $60 million we committed to Edwin Encarnicion five years ago. What's a crazier stat? That we've never given more than a $60 million contract, or that before this signing, we had a grand total of ZERO DOLLARS committed to any player moving beyond this season. And now we've got our franchise player locked up for the next 5 years with a full no-trade clause. So yes Cleveland folks, this means you can officially and safely purchase your first Guardians jersey. We know for a fact that someone will be here next year. Put him on the Sherwin Williams building as well.

What a crazy turn of events. Just yesterday, it sounded like the two sides were so far apart that Ramirez was going to be dealt before Opening Day...

Credit to the Guardians front office for doing what it took to get this done. I'm not sure the fan base would have been able to stomach this current roster, the payroll, and then trading away our best player just days before the season. Cleveland needed this. And now all we need to do is pair Jose with another player in his prime to really make a run at things these next couple years. Maybe a Francisco Lindor type player?

Which brings me to a point that must be said.....are we sure Jose Ramirez okay with this? Yes he's guaranteed $150 million, but this is also a team friendly deal. With the amount of money being tossed around these days, this is seems like it's below market value for a player of Jose's caliber. Jose Ramirez translator must really love Cleveland or something.

Whatever, maybe it's a hometown discount for us great fans! He's always been worshipped here, but now he might be the most popular man in Cleveland, trailing MAYBE only Myles Garrett. Jose wants to be here!!! Or maybe the Dolan's committed to spending more money to surround him with talent? Haha, I'm kidding. Because while I'm thanking Paul Dolan this morning, let's not get carried away and act like this stat isn't disgusting.....

Jose is a great first domino to fall and was a massive first step towards pleasing this fan base, but we must keep spending to be competitive and give the city of Cleveland the type of team it deserves. And we know he has the money…
