The People's Goalie And The Rest Of The Ivy League Is The One Thing Keeping This College Lacrosse Season Interesting

The 2022 college lacrosse season has been more or less a foregone conclusion for months at this point. Maryland is far and away the best team in the nation, and nobody else is particularly close. The biggest question has just been whether or not they'll cap off this season with a national championship. But other than that, there hasn't been a ton of intrigue. Virginia is the best team in the ACC, even if Notre Dame is coming into form here and Duke is always a different team in May. The Big Ten stinks outside of Maryland. Georgetown is clearly the best team in the Big East. The SoCon looked like we could have had a juicy 3-way race but Jacksonville has been dominating there.

Thank god for the Ivy League, and most importantly thank god for the People's Goalie Connor Theriault of Brown.

24 saves for the big fella while leading Brown to a 13-8 win over a top-10 Cornell team. Last week he had 15 saves while leading Brown to a 20-13 smackdown over #4 Yale. And the week before that he had 13 saves to help Brown pull off a 12-10 win over #8 Penn. That's 3 straight weeks with top-10 wins for Brown. And after a few other "surprise" scores in the Ivy this weekend like Harvard putting Princeton away, there's now a 5-way tie at the top of the Ivy with one week left in the regular season.

5 teams sitting at 3-2 in conference play. Penn already played all the other 6 Ivy League teams and they went 3-3 through that gauntlet. Princeton plays Cornell this weekend and Harvard plays Yale. So at the very least, 2 teams will finish the regular season at 4-2. The loser of those games will join Penn at 3-3. Brown plays Dartmouth this weekend so they should be another team sitting at 4-2 heading into the conference tournament. So then you have a 3-way tie with those 3-3 teams and only 1 spot remaining in the Ivy League tournament.

Like I said, thank god for the Ivy and thank god for the People's Goalie.

We talk about all of that and more on today's episode of The Crease Dive. By the way, we're going to be switching over to doing 2 episodes per week now that we're heading into the final month of the season. So we'll have weekend recap episodes coming out on Tuesday mornings, and weekend preview episodes coming out on Friday mornings. Make sure to subscribe early and often. Tell your friends, tell your family, tell your enemies, tell every single person you come across in your day-to-day life to add some Crease Dive to theirs.
