Justin Lin, who was set to direct Fast X — the 10th installment of the Fast & Furious franchise — has announced he will no longer serve in that role for the upcoming film.

On Tuesday, Lin, who co-wrote the film with Dan Mazeau and directed five other films in the franchise, shared the news via a statement on the movie's Instagram account.

"With the support of Universal, I have made the difficult decision to step back as director of FAST X," the statement read, adding that he will remain working on the project in a producer capacity.

The director of the 10th Fast & Furious movie has stepped down a week into production. Not great! Justin Lin was in the director's chair for five Fast and Furious movies leading up to this one. What the hell could have gone wrong that quickly?

Well, let's watch this extremely uncomfortable video starring Vin Diesel and Lin that was posted a week ago.

What the fuck was that? If I didn't know any better I'd assume Lin was being held at gun point behind the camera while being forced to read off cue cards. These screenshots are brutal.

It's almost as if working with Vin Diesel and his ever-growing ego is something no one wants to continue to do. Where have we heard that before?

Just stop making these movies.
