Tom Brady's Deal To Announce NFL Games On Fox Is Reportedly 10 Years For $375 MILLION, Which Is More Than He's Made Playing Football For 22+ Years
NY Post- Fox Sports’ deal to make Tom Brady its lead NFL game analyst after he retires is for 10 years and $375 million, The Post has learned. It is the largest contract in sportscasting history, as it more than doubles both CBS’ Tony Romo and ESPN’s Troy Aikman in average annual salary of $18 million per season.
After losing Joe Buck and Aikman to ESPN, Fox wanted to make a splash. Buck ($15.5M) and Aikman ($18M) will make a combined $33.5 million. Brady will make $37.5 million per year to team with Kevin Burkhardt. Besides being Fox Sports’ No. 1 game analyst, he will also be a company ambassador who will help in sponsorships and promotional activities.
HO-LY FUCK. I know we've conditioned ourselves to hold out and wait to see the guaranteed money when it comes to NFL players signing massive contracts. But I'm pretty sure that's not how it works in the media. So it's nice to see Tom Brady finally win one and by winning one I mean getting a gig announcing NFL games that is worth more in 10 years then he'll get for 23 years being the best quarterback of all-time despite him never being in a booth in his life.
You can make the joke that based on inflation and the arc of Brady's career, $375 million will be worth $3.75 by the time Brady actually retires or that he is truly pulling out all stops to be around his kids during weekends in the fall and winter. But instead, all I can think about is how much I want to watch an episode of The Man In The Arena where we can see Brady screaming at Don Yee to negotiate $4 million more than Joe Buck and Troy Aikman combined after those two spent decades calling games just because he is Tom fucking Brady. I may be a Giants fan, but I have nothing but #RE12PECT for a guy that has done nothing but crush his opponents in the biggest spots (outside of my beloved Giants and the Eagles that one time) and you know that Brady wanted to make sure he was getting better funny money than these networks are throwing around than the guy he was replacing along with his partner. True GOAT shit.
The best part of all this? There is a broadcaster that already has proven how great he is at talking pigskin whose greatest moments came when he beat Brady head-to-head that'll be able to use these ridiculous numbers in his next negotiations.
Also I gotta shout out my guy Handsome Kevin Burkhardt for going from being the Mets field reporter to the number 1 NFL play-by-play announcer next to the greatest quarterback of all-time. I have no clue if it'll be the best booth in the National Football League, but it'll definitely be the best looking booth in the National Football League.
Those guys are somehow only 4 years apart in age. The TB12 Method is fucking sorcery.
