Oh Hell Yeah, We're Getting Drama: FIFA Is Officially Looking At Kicking Ecuador Out Of The World Cup For Using An Ineligible Player

So I blogged this story last week and it's getting bigger. FIFA is officially looking at kicking Ecuador out of the World Cup because of using an illegal player and/or lying about said player.

Now it wouldn't be FIFA without a twist. This twist is that Peru is 'invited' in the investigation. Remember, it was Chile that brought everything to light and wanted FIFA to investigate under the assumption that Chile would be the team automatically into the World Cup if Ecuador is found guilty. Howevah, here are new details:

I can't stress how crazy this whole process is. I also can't stop laughing at it. I hate everything about this World Cup - besides the US being back in it. I hate that it's in Qatar. I hate that it's in November and not during the summer. Those are mostly my complaints. Also no Italy. I like watching Italy, sue me. But the fact we're getting an investigation into an ineligible player which may change who is in the World Cup is even crazier. I assume there's no change in the draw so if Ecuador gets kicked out either Peru or Chile or whoever gets their spot just immediately takes their spot in Group A too.

Again we're talking about the biggest stage in the world for the biggest sport in the world. Say what you want about soccer in America, you can't deny it from a South American stage of a world stage. We're like 6 months out from the World Cup and we don't even know if a team will be kicked out. If that doesn't scream FIFA I don't know what does.

Also credit to Ecuador for living by the do anything to win mantra. A potential ineligible player? Shit, that's AAU basketball at its finest. If you played AAU you know exactly what I'm talking about. You play a team during round robin stage and all of a sudden in knockout stage they have 3 new players all of who are going Division I. Only difference here is it's, you know, the World Cup.

Can't wait to see FIFA rule here and the fall out. I'm sure everyone and everything will be civil.
