Mark Cuban Starting A Twitter Beef With Lil Wayne In His Support Of Luka Doncic Is Why He's One Of The Best Owners On The Planet
I'm making an assumption here, but I get the sense that playing for a team owned by Mark Cuban would be pretty awesome. He's the type of owner that is down to spend whatever it takes in order to make his team a contender, he puts a ton of money into their facilities, and he's about as ride or die as you can get when it comes to an NBA owner. Seems like what you would want if you had your choice of where to play.
This could not be more clear once you bring yourself up to speed with his current and ongoing Twitter beef with….Lil Wayne. Quick, tell me how many other owners would bring on a beef with that guy, all in the name of sticking up for his franchise player. It all dates back to this tweet
You'll remember that on May 8th the Mavs won Game 4 over the Suns with Luka throwing up 26/7/11 despite throwing up a 9-25 (1-10) shooting performance. I'm not sure what inspired Lil Wayne to tweet that, he probably didn't love the complaining Luka does from time to time, or maybe he's just a die hard Suns fan. I imagine other Suns fans had a similar feeling about Luka during that series considering all he did was repeatedly rip their heart out over and over and over again.
So what does Cuban do? He waits in silence for the perfect opportunity to strike back.
That opportunity would present itself 8 days later on May 16th. We all know what happened that day. The Suns season ended with the Mavs walking into their arena and blowing them out by a billion. It was never close. Such an ass kicking was the perfect moment for Cuban to respond
Incredible. Not just the picture, but how perfectly it works with using Lil Wayne's own lyric against him. I mean that's a kill shot by every definition. I need to know if Cuban came up with that himself or had one of his minions point it out. I'm a Cuban guy so I'm choosing to believe this was all him. You would think that after how that game went and the kill shot from Cuban that this would be the end of this beef. A good, clean, internet battle won by the Mavs and Cuban.
Naturally, the exactly opposite happened
Yikes. Everyone just calm down here. Now I'll never kink shame so if you're into having people pee in your mouth, go nuts. Have fun but be safe. It's clear that Lil Wayne was very triggered, which usually happens when someone loses a Twitter battle. The second you make it personal, you lose. The fact that he tweeted it and then deleted it is even worse. If you're going to talk shit, talk shit. Deleting your tweets is the ultimate coward move in a situation like this.
If anything, this just shows what a bizarre world we live in. We have NBA owners and rappers not only beefing on Twitter, but it got to the point where said rapper is threatening to pee in that man's mouth while calling him a ho. That feels more like a Mad Libs exercise than reality….yet here we are.
OK, so was this it? Everyone can go back to their corners now? Lol, nope
At this point none of this is an accident. I love the move from Luka. He got the last laugh on the court and off the court. Hard to argue that at this point.
You know how I also know Cuban is the real winner here? This tweet
Sounds like someone is still a little upset over this
So far it appears to be the end of this beef. I'm not sure how Lil Wayne comes back from it so it looks like we can put this one in the books for good. I give it a 9/10 on the randomness scale and a 10/10 on the execution. We've had a lot of Twitter beefs over the years, and I'd say this was as good as any.
Meanwhile, the Mavs are in Golden State tonight as they try and steal Game 1 and take homecourt. Luka vs Steph is going to be must watch stuff and with how well the Mavs have looked for the last 5 months, this series really does feel like a toss up. I know how devastating the healthy Warriors can be, but I also know that Luka has shown to be built for these moments and I know that elite defense travels. For a franchise that managed to stack a whole bunch of Ws in all forms over the last week or so, it wouldn't shock me one bit if they pulled off the split to kick off this series.
I just know that from now on, I need Cuban to tweet a Lil Wayne lyric after every win. Don't take the high road, be petty.
