New UFC Champ Jiri Prochazka Got A True Hero's Welcome In The Czech Republic Today
I love shit like this. I've blogged about the hero's welcome Jan Blachowicz got in Poland when he won the belt, the one Brandon Moreno got in Mexico when he became their first UFC champ, and the one Charles Oliveira got in his hometown after defeating Michael Chandler for the vacant title, and countless others - but this one is definitely up there with the best of em. I mean, LOOK AT THAT CROWD! It looks like he's about to play a sick festival set for those people.
If you missed the UFC 275 main event on Saturday where Jiri won the strap, you absolutely have to go back and find it at some point. It was one of the most entertaining fights I think I've ever seen. There were a billion momentum shifts throughout, both guys were badly hurt at certain points, and right when it looked like Glover had the fight won - Jiri tapped him with 30 seconds left in the fifth and final round!
Dana White's reaction said it all....
Glover Teixeira wants an immediate rematch, and I'm all for it. It's not like Light Heavyweight is necessarily swamped with deserving contenders right now, ya know? I say run it back!
P.S. "Very nice, very nice, but still nothing!" is a hilarious quote.
