You Love To See It: Cavs Draft Isaiah Mobley To Reunite Him With His Brother Evan In The NBA

Evan Mobley was the third overall pick in last year's draft out of USC, and his brother Isaiah was going to follow him before deciding at the last minute to return to school. Welp, Isaiah's decision to play out his junior year for the Trojans worked out for the best. He was their No. 1 scorer and helped lead the program to an NCAA tourney berth. Now, the Mobley brothers BOTH play for the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Obviously, much less is expected of Isaiah Mobley, because he's the younger brother and wasn't selected till the second round at 49th overall. That doesn't take away from how awesome this is. Imagine growing up in a healthy, competitive sibling rivalry, pushing each other to reach your full potential, both being good enough to get to the NBA, and getting drafted by the same team! The odds of this are more astronomical than whatever number C-3PO told Han Solo as he tried navigating that astroid field!!

The elder 6-foot-10, 240-pound Mobley averaged 14.2 points, 8.3 rebounds and 3.3 assists for USC last season while his one-and-done brother helped the Cavs spark an unexpected turnaround from relative obscurity to right in the thick of playoff contention. If not for some injuries down the stretch, Cleveland could've easily avoided the play-in tournament.

Anyway, a big reason why the Cavs took a big step forward was their loaded big man rotation featuring Evan Mobley, Jarrett Allen, Lauri Markkanen and Kevin Love. That doesn't leave a ton of room for Isaiah Mobley to make much of an impression, at least in his maiden NBA campaign. Cleveland added frontcourt depth with the 39th pick by acquiring center Khalifa Diop, too.

Just having that brotherly bond around the Cavs' organization can only be a positive going forward not only for team chemistry purposes, but also as the Mobleys continue to progress and develop their games at the professional level. I'm so here for it. Getting Kansas' Ochai Agbaji at No. 14 tonight was awesome. I think I'm even more jazzed about the Mobley Bros. Isaiah Mobley might be the coolest second-round pick in NBA Draft history.
