4-Star QB Jaden Rashada Reportedly Received $9.5 Million From Miami's NIL Collective After Turning Down $11 Million From Florida, But Everyone Is Denying Everything
2023 Four-star quarterback Jaden Rashada committed to Miami on Sunday, picking the Hurricanes over the Florida Gators. In the wake of his commitment, it was reported by On3 that Rashada received $9.5 million from Miami's NIL collective — and that he turned down an even more lucrative offer from Florida.
If true, the $9.5 million would be the largest NIL deal known for any recruit, surpassing the $8 million Tennessee commit Nico Iamaleava received.
However, after On3's report, representatives for both Miami's and Florida's NIL collectives denied ever talking to Rashada or his lawyer, Michael Caspino.
So obviously, someone is lying. If I were to make a purely speculative yet somewhat educated guess, I would say the numbers being reported are likely accurate and that they were leaked by the party in this scenario with the most to gain in the future from numbers like this being out there. But now that it seems like there was an obvious inducement, everybody involved has to deny.
Whatever happened in this whole ordeal, to go from the No. 3 quarterback in the class getting $8 million to an alleged $11 million offer for the No. 7 quarterback in three months is pretty wild. In a year or two, there's no telling what 4- and 5-star quarterbacks will be getting. These numbers may look like absolute steals.
But in Rashada's case, we may never know what's real and what isn't. NIL seems to be going swimmingly right now.
