Kanye Made His First Public Appearance In Months To Pay Tribute To Puff Daddy At The BET Awards Last Night And Did Not Disappoint. But Of Course The Kardashian Cult Is Up In Arms Over A Meaningless Comment He Made

(Have you people heard about Barstool Backstage yet? It's this cute little project myself and some grinder's at the company have bootstrapped to focus on all things music. We're up to date on everything, keep you in the know on all things pertinent to the music industry, interview some pretty sweet artists, and post basically anytime Kanye West takes a dump. And we have kept a bunch of social media interns employed at the mother ship by constantly posting stuff that goes viral that they then repost and tag every other brand at the company besides ours. It's good shit. Follow us on twitter and instagram.)

E Online - An incognito, thoroughly swaddled Kanye West made a surprise appearance at the 2022 BET Awards on Sunday, where he presented friend and music mogul Sean "Diddy" Combs with the Lifetime Achievement Award.

West said he's been on a "little hiatus" in his speech, but that a persistent Combs emboldened him to attend the public event and speak in his honor. "I took a little hiatus. I said I wanted to declare myself legally dead for a year," West said. "Nobody missing me. You know, I just want to be off the grid, [but] Puff is pretty persistent."

If Combs "ever need us," West said, "we need to jump and be there." The rapper continued, "This man has been through and survived a lot of stuff. Broke down a lot of doors so we could be standing. I know for me, that I could be here today... he broke down so many doors of classism, taste, swag. Puff, if I never told you, I love you. You're my brother."

In a speech that began with a rhetorical "How do we crown our kings?," West commended Combs for breaking the hip-hop mold. "Back then there was so many rules to hip-hop, and he broke all of them," he said, adding that the mogul "understood contracts in a way a lot of us still don't" and "understood money in a way a lot of us still don't."

"I go to him for advice to this day," West continued. "He inspired so many of my choices. So many of my life choices. My wife choices." Later, West and Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds presented Combs the award. In his speech, Combs thanked "everyone who played a part in my life," as well as late ex-girlfriend Kim Porter, who died in 2018 from lobar pneumonia at age 47. "When I was a kid, I saw these images that were setting me up for failure, these images that were making me feel less than a dog," he said. "I was like, 'Man I'm not with that. I'm not with that.' I closed my eyes and dreamed and saw what I had to do. We here for ourselves, we here for our ancestors, you feel me?"

Sean "P Diddy" Combs and Kanye West.

Two of my favorite artists of all time.

Two pillars of the foundation that helped craft me into the little Bad Boy Records reppin' wigger I was in high school who then eventually managed to parlay a half decent career in music into a bunch of other things.

Seeing one pay tribute to the other last night was indeed worlds colliding. Seeing Kanye take a hiatus from his "legal death for a year" to come out and honor Puff Daddy speaks volumes as to how important Diddy has been to music the past 30 years.

Here was his acceptance speech -

Kanye crediting Puffy for inspiring him to not only be flashy and overconfident, but also think outside the box in terms of digging through endless crates of obscure funk, soul, disco, and Motown records to sample is hip hop/producer porn.

(Also, the "All About The Benjamins" original version he referenced is fucking fire.)

All in all it was a classic weird Kanye appearance. Completely masked. Breathing like Darth Vader. Going totally off script ignoring the teleprompter -

Everything good right?

Wrong.

Everything in this world revolves around Kim Kardashian and her evil family, so of course, the haters came for Kanye. Why exactly? Because he made a veiled reference to her of course…

Yahoo News - Kanye West Hasn't Let Kim Kardashian Go Completely After He Subtly Mentions Her at 2022 BET Awards.

“I go to him for advice to this day,” Kanye told the audience. “He inspires so many of my choices. So many of my life choices. My wife choices. And here we are, thanks for that Puff.” While the rapper didn’t elaborate further as to whether Combs shaped who he chose to marry, they both had long relationships with women named Kim. (Combs’ ex Kim Porter passed away in 2018.) It feels like a very Kanye thing to do — making sure he subtly references Kim any chance he gets because he knows it will draw attention.

Kim hasn’t looked back after she and Kanye split in 2021, she’s been busy with her blossoming romance with Davidson, which includes their matching hair color right now. But the Skims entrepreneur hasn’t forgotten about Kanye either. She gave him a loving tribute on Father’s Day, writing on Instagram, “Thank you for being the best dad to our babies and loving them the way you do!” Their once-rocky relationship seems to have shifted to a much more peaceful place, which is not only good for their four kids, but also for their co-parenting partnership.

At some point in this divorce it become cool for Kim Kardashian to reference Kanye in every single episode of her shitty reality tv show, and use him for storylines and drama. But anytime Kanye even alludes to his marriage, or breakup, or children, he's villified and accused of using her/them for attention. As if Kanye West needs ways to draw attention to himself.

Give me a fucking break.

The guy doesn't want his kids on tik tok, or social media, or hanging around that weirdo Pete Davidson who thinks its cool to fuck guys exes and then troll them about it.

(Sidebar - I've wanted to do a blog about it but it would never see the light of day. However people forget when Davidson leached onto Ariana Grande after her split from Mac Miller and allegedly went out his way to twist the knife into Mac's back) -

Something Kanye pointed out during his social media meltdown earlier this year -

After Davidson texted him telling him he was "in bed with his wife" (fucking scumbag) -

Honestly can't blame Kanye for wanting to be off the grid for a year. He can't win no matter what he does now. He can't compete with the money behind the Kardashian media machine, and their cult makes Kanye stans look like a bunch of fair weather fans by comparison. So Mr. West should just head to his ranch in Wyoming, post up there with no Wifi, tv, or any other distractions, and just focus on music. Make the record we've all been waiting for since MBDTF and return with a vengeance.

Hell, I'd honestly take a Kanye's forgotten hits and features record at this point-

Here you go, we did half the work for you already…
