Shams Gave Us An Update Of The Donovan Mitchell To The Knicks Rumors And They Aren't Great!

So this Shams tweet went wild this morning linking Kevin Durant to the most successful franchise in NBA history. However, buried safely inside was a solid nut tap for Knicks fans hoping to get a 25-year-old native New Yorker that can get motherfucking buckets.

The Athletic- Meanwhile, eyes and ears around the league also remain fixated on the Utah Jazz and New York Knicks engaging in trade talks surrounding Mitchell. The Knicks’ asset pool — up to eight first-round draft picks and young players such as Quentin Grimes, Immanuel Quickley and Obi Toppin — gives them a clear opportunity to acquire Mitchell, but sources say talks so far have moved slowly and the sides are far from an agreement. With three years guaranteed remaining on Mitchell’s contract, the Jazz are not operating with a sense of urgency and have the time to evaluate the best offers for the 25-year-old.

Along with New York, several other teams have expressed interest to the Jazz when it comes to Mitchell, such as Washington, Miami, Toronto, Charlotte, Sacramento and Atlanta, according to sources. Like Brooklyn, the Jazz have held firm on setting a high bar on any potential Mitchell deal, and they expect to be patient throughout the process. For now, the Jazz will continue to evaluate incoming calls and seek ways to balance their roster.

Damn. If you can't trust the rumors from a clip of a random Utah sports talk radio show without any context of what was said before or after it in this crazy #SOURCES filled world, who can you trust?

Okay, I may have written an entire blog about the trade while ignoring my family for all of Friday waiting for a Woj Bomb or Shams Missile to drop #BarstoolConfessions. But it always did seem too good to be true.

The Knicks actually landing a star that wants to play here was never going to come easy after years of Photoshop blue balls. The GM trading that star being Danny Ainge made an easy trade impossible since he bleeds every single asset he can get out of teams even before the T'Wolves gave him everything short of Justin Jefferson for Rudy Gobert. Meanwhile these are the kind of trades the Knicks front office makes under Leon Rose.

So yeah, Danny Ainge asking for the sun and the moon for Donovan Mitchell is probably being countered with rights to Joakim Noah's recently expired contract and these two NYC legends by Leon Rose.

Which means a trade isn't coming anytime soon. I still think it will happen since Mitchell wants New York and getting future Knicks picks is like getting Apple stock regardless of who is running the team, still think it will be for a fuck ton of picks along with either Obi, IQ, or Grimes, and still think people will clown the Knicks for the trade even if they got Mitchell for free. But based on everything we know about these two front offices, this shit isn't going to happen anytime soon. So put down your phone, enjoy your summer, and rest easy knowing that Leon Rose isn't going to give up everything the Knicks have just to get a deal done.

That is at least until this dickhead starts pounding his angry little fists and begs for Donovan Mitchell like Veruca Salt begged for a golden egg laying goose.

However as long as he stays busy attending fancy parties in Eastern Long Island that Portnoy is now rich enough to attend, we continue to preach #InLeonWeTrust.
