Video Of A Houston Security Guard Crying His Eyes Out During A Kendrick Lamar Concert Has Gone Wicked Viral

Chron - A security guard working at the Houston Toyota Center has gone viral after a video surfaced of him weeping at a Kendrick Lamar concert over the weekend. The Compton rapper made a stop in the Bayou City Friday for his ongoing "The Big Steppers" tour. 

In a now-viral TikTok that has been widely circulated online, security guard Devyn Sanford can be seen standing just off stage, wiping away tears from his face and quietly singing and bobbing his head along to Lamar performing "Love," the Zacari-featured track from his 2017 album "Damn."

The clip has garnered over 11 million views on TikTok since it was posted. 

After being made aware of fans' reactions to the video, Sanford also commented, writing: "That’s me in the post y’all… this song means EVERYTHING to me and I was feeling everybody around me emotions… definitely love getting paid to do this."

Can we let this guy live? Please?

It's the reason anything under the sun we do special is set to it. Think about it. Weddings. Funerals. Birthday parties. One Shining Moment. 

Specific songs can transport you back in time to a certain place and moment just by hearing it. They can invoke emotion that you can try your damndest to hold back, but there's no stopping it. Unless you stop the music. 

Which is exactly what happened to my man Devyn here.

Take "Love" for example.

A beautiful song, no doubt.

As Devyn explained to a local Fox station, the song holds special meaning to him.

In an interview with Fox 26, Sanford, who works for a private events staffing company, said he had no idea that the moment had been captured until after the concert. "I woke up the next day and it was everywhere," he said. "I'm still taking it all in right now." 

Sanford told Fox that Lamar is one of his favorite artists so he made sure to find a way to be at the Houston concert. "I debated about whether to buy tickets or work the show and I decided to work it and it was still just as impactful to me," he said, adding that the song "Love" holds significant meaning for him. 

"It brought me back to when the song first came out. I was going through a tumultuous time in my life at that point," he told Fox. "The words, the crowd around me, everyone was screaming and reaching for Kendrick and crying and I kind of like absorbed everybody's emotions. I was trying my best to hold it together and I just cracked."

The fact somebody recorded this and posted it on tiktok so that 11 million people could watch Devyn's heart pour out is what's really messed up about all of this. Sure its beautiful, and Devyn has got plenty of attention because of it, but talk about invasion of privacy.

Men are ugly criers. There's no way around it. I think that's partly why we try so hard at the macho thing and not showing emotion. If we can't have a good cry without worrying about some asshole recording it all and upping it to the interwebs then we're just moving this emotional intelligence revolution we've been working on in reverse. 

This shit needs to stop.

And I know what the tough guys are thinking, "crying is for pussies or when watching "Field of Dreams" only. Loser."

You're straight up lying if you try to claim you've never been moved to tears by music. If you wanna say no. but admit you do during certain movies, then let me ask you to think back to what scene it was and what was playing when that happened. I'd bet my life it was a beautiful song, or piece of music, probably set to the D Key (the sad key), and expertly soundtracked. 

Take a perfect example, the movie "Rudy". Seen it probably 40 times in my life. Still gets me every time.

If you watch either of these scenes on mute do they do anything?

When Rudy finally hits the field in this and the crescendo of the orchestra kicks in if you don't get tingles and goosebumps you gotta check your pulse 

Now for the point of the blog. 

I've had a draft done for a month or so now that this all ties in to perfectly.
