Putting Reese's Peanut Butter Cups On A Pulled Pork Sandwich Will Alter Society Forever, For Better Or Worse

The Kansas City Royals were so preoccupied with whether or not they could put Reese's on a pulled pork sandwich that they didn't stop to think if they should.

I know a lot of folks out there are going to look at this sandwich like it's a monstrosity. But once that initial disgust wears off and you actually think about it...I mean I bet that sandwich kicks ass. Not in a "wow this is actually some really good barbecue" way, but more of a "holy shit I am hammered drunk right now watching the Royals and don't have a single ounce of regard for my health or well-being at the moment" type of way.

What is a Reese's cup? It is sweet and it is salty. What is barbecue? It is sweet and it is savory and it is salty. What is bacon? It is salty. What is a brioche bun? It is sweet. Great food is all about tweaking the equation to get that perfectly balanced bite. This might seem like a lot to balance, but those maniacs might be able to pull it off. Especially if you keep the Reese's in the freezer before putting them on the sandwich, and you throw the pork on the sandwich while it's still super hot. The Reese's will start to melt just enough that it'll add a little crunch to the bite but then melt in your mouth.

The issue with this sandwich doesn't come down to the sandwich itself, then. The issue is what it represents. If we start going around throwing chocolate and peanut butter on BBQ sandwiches, then it's clear that humans have entered our final stage of "Don't Give A Fuck" mode. This is a point of no return. This will be a moment that history will remember forever. When we, as a society, either collectively decide that enough is enough, or that we aren't afraid to go that far. Who knows where we go from here. Maybe it brings us one step closer to world peace, maybe it brings us one step closer to the doom of mankind. We won't know until we get there. But for now…well football season and fall are right around the corner. So get ready to toss on a sweatshirt to cover up that body built by Pulled Pork & Reese's.
